Second Jobbers
In the debate about MPs and their second jobs one of the key arguments in defence of these jobs is that experience of the 'real' world will be useful to the MPs when they are in government. It will therefore inspire confidence that the second job of shadow transport minister Robert Goodwill is 'cemetery owner'. As bus conductors used to say, "Room for one more inside."

Being a non-exec director of an investment bank is useful aswell, eh?

Mr Bean, not all MPs have second jobs as bankers. Bob Marshall Andrews is a great human rights barrister. That kind of issue really IS useful to the electorate.

Yeah, but excuse me. How many members of the CABINET have 'useful' jobs like that? I think you'll find most of these 'useful' jobs offer no help to the legislative process.

That is the most lame excuse that I've heard - It will give them experience that they can bring to bear in government
Uttter BOLLOCKS! They actually want the experience as MPs that they can bring to bear when they get their cozy little jobs AFTER parliament Trackbacks
